April means a few different things for people – spring showers, freak snowstorms (if you live in Boston), cherry blossoms, the end of March Madness, and of course, Tax Day.
Tax Day is officially April 15, but this year, it falls on April 18, thanks to the weekend and Emancipation Day (a D.C. holiday). Which means that we have an extension of three whole days to file those taxes!
With Tax Day’s imminent approach in a little more than a week, we thought we’d share one of our tax preparation favorites by TaxACT.
In the spot, a young boy feels the “freedom” of peeing in the pool after searching in vain for a place in the house to relieve himself. With the engaging and endearing ad, TaxACT sought to elicit an emotional response. “Rather than focusing on the act of doing your taxes, we wanted to connect viewers with the emotion of being totally free – the same feeling you have when using TaxACT’s free product,” said TaxACT’s VP of Marketing Kris Peterson.
The TaxACT spot first aired at the 2012 Super Bowl. Tax preparation and the Super Bowl are no strangers to each other – TurboTax, Jackson Hewitt, H&R Block, and TaxACT have all regularly bought spots in the Super Bowl. After all, the Super Bowl occurs at the ideal time for these companies to broadcast their brand message and services.
Just think how free you’ll feel after you finish filing those taxes – probably just as good as the boy relieving himself in the pool.
